⊕ Lace loop Samples from the Windsor Lace book. Lace loop samples from Plate 36 of the “lace book” in the Royal Collection at Windsor.
The “General view of the facings etc.” accompanies the regulation for the “colours, clothing etc.,” found in WO 30/13B. Miscellany Book: Clothing Correspondence. 19th December 1768. It is a simple table listing the regiments, sorted by their facing colour (that of the lapels and cuffs of their coats). It contains a brief description of the lace loops that decorated the coats around the buttonholes.

Accompanying the “general view” was a book of samples, The lace and method of looping the button holes of each Regiment of Infantry as ordered by His Majesty. December 19th 1768., now held in the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle. (Accession RCIN 1085813.) See the “Lace Book” online..
